January 2011

We held our Broward Drupal monthly meetup on Wednesday, January 12th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.

Participants (we just had the regulars this week):

Remote (from furthest to closest) via Skype and Team Viewer:
Seattle - Chris Parsons
Delray Beach - Phil Smith
Coral Springs - Jason Graham

In Person (Fort Lauderdale, Broward County - half way between Miami and Boca Raton):
Jay Epstein
Me

We continued to have remote users participate in our meetup via Skype and TeamViewer.

After catching up on what we had been doing the past month, Jason discussed his new acupuncture site: http://acupuncture2.polishyourimage.com/ (Zen-based theme). Chris mentioned that he uses Zen for sites with more complex themes and Fusion Starter Lite for simpler sites.

Next, Phil talked about the upcoming barnraising even on Friday, February 4th. It will be coding for a cause at the Hard Rock for a charity site that is being redone in Drupal. Come join us. More details here: http://groups.drupal.org/node/115534/ and here http://groups.drupal.org/node/110154/

After that we discussed the image cache actions module (overlays, watermarks, etc.), and the location module along with gmap and open layers. Chris also gave us a mysql command for importing sql files directly into D6: mysql -u username -pPassword database_name < ../other_folder/database_file.sql
